Air Quality Planning

Maricopa County
As an Employee of the State of Arizona, ADOT participates in Trip Reduction Program through Capitol Rideshare. Capitol Rideshare offers incentives and programs to encourage State employees to reduce travel in Maricopa County especially on a High Pollution Advisory (HPA) Day.

ADOT forwards employees, air quality forecasts, surveys, and other trip reduction information to actively promote alternatives to single occupant vehicle travel. For more information on Travel Reduction Programs, click here .

Statewide
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, Maricopa Air Quality Department, Pima County Department of Environmental Quality and Pinal County Air Quality Department all have responsibility for implementing and enforcing air quality standards for the State. Current air quality information can be found at the links provided to the right, other information can be found here.

A few Tips for Controlling Pollution:
Participate in High Pollution Advisory Program, reduce idling, bring lunch to work, avoid peak hour traffic, reduce trips, and keep car maintained. Additional controls for Particulate Matter; stabilize loose soils, minimize travel on dirt roads, utilize tarps on haul trucks, limit use of leaf-blowers, do not use fireplace, and on high-wind days reduce outdoor activities.
